One of my all time favorite stories growing up was Mark Twain's, Tom Sawyer and Huckerburry Finn. Or Robert Louis Stevenson's, Treasure Island. In each of those stories there is a treasure map leading to gold. Every child dreams of finding a treasure map and it leading to a burried treasure in their back yard. At least I did. In the bible there is a treasure map. It is found in the book of Romans. It leads to one of the greatest treasure's of all time, Eternal Life. Let's follow it and see where it leads.
In Romans 3:23 it says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” Going further on the treasure map we find that in Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is Eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Like all good Treasure maps we might have to do a little searching. Turn back to Romans 5:8. “But God demonstrates His own love for us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” And finally we get to the treasure, in Romans 10:9-10,13 ”That if you confess with your mouth, ”Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” And in verse 13 it says, ”Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
